NRCan launches Energy Manager Program in four provinces
The program will use proceeds from the federal carbon tax.

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has launched an Energy Manager Program that promises to provide $3.1 million to schools, universities, hospitals, non-profit organizations, small to medium enterprises and municipal entities in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick—i.e. where the federal carbon pollution pricing backstop applies.
Using proceeds from the carbon tax, the program will offer funding to hire energy managers, undertake assessments for buildings, industrial facilities and even fleets and identify and implement energy-efficiency measures. It is designed to complement, not replace, existing energy-efficiency, clean-energy and innovation programs.
“Our government is proud to support initiatives like the Energy Manager Program, which will reduce energy use, operating costs and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, helping us realize our global climate change goals,” says Amarjeet Sohi, federal minister of natural resources.
